Moving Boundaries

CONVERGE™ eliminates the deforming mesh issues typically associated with moving boundaries in other CFD software. In CONVERGE™, the internal grid cells do not change during boundary motion. Thus, there is no numerical diffusion associated with fluxes through internal faces as boundaries move.

In addition, because of the runtime grid generation methodology used in CONVERGE™, moving boundaries are just as easy to include in a simulation as stationary boundaries!

The video illustrates the use of moving boundaries in CONVERGE™. This simulation includes a moving piston as well as moving valves. Colors represent the velocity field.
